🕯️ Welcome, beloved Saint, to the Scribe's Scroll. In this quiet sanctuary, we gather not to debate, but to behold the eternal tapestry of God's plan, to understand the legitimacy of our hope in Him. For our faith is not a mere feeling; it is an unshakeable confidence rooted in a divine covenant, a perfect legality established by the very character of God Himself. We do not hope in vain; we hope because He has promised, and His Word is the foundation upon which our expectations stand.
The Reign of Adam and the Coming of Death Our journey begins with the first reign, that of Adam, the first man. Created as an adult and endowed with kingly dominion over all creation, Adam reigned in Eden for 33 years. He was a being of profound intelligence, naming all the animals and fulfilling his divine mandate. Yet, at the age of 33, in a moment of great consequence, Adam disobeyed God. In his fall, he recognized his nakedness and his separation from the Lord. This transgression brought about a profound shift, as spiritual death entered the world and with it, the reign of physical death. Adam, who had reigned in authority, now lived the remainder of his 930 years in a fallen state.
📖 “Nevertheless, death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression…” (Romans 5:14, KJV).
The Reign of the Law Following the reign of death, a new era dawned with the giving of the Law to Moses. This period marked the second reign, a time when the Law became the path to life for those who would live by its decrees. The Law, a perfect and spiritual testament of God's will, was a glorious and holy standard, yet it was unable to make those who obeyed it perfect. This reign of the Law continued from Moses all the way to the Cross, where its power and claims were finally and eternally satisfied.
As it is written:
📖 “Having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.” (Colossians 2:14, NIV). ---~~~⚜️ A GEM OF REVELATION ⚜️~~~--- The Cross was not an end, but a divine conclusion—the moment when the legal power of the Law was blotted out, taking its claims and its condemnation and nailing them to the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ. This act was not a temporary solution; it was a perfect and eternal blotting out of our debt. The reign of the law was ended forever.
The Reign of Christ Through the Church And now, beloved, we arrive at the very heart of the matter—the fourth and glorious reign: Christ’s reign through His Church. Prophesied by David in Psalm 110, this reign is active now, in our day.
📖 “The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.” (Psalm 110:1, KJV).
This is not a passive waiting. This is a time of active reign. The Word tells us that while seated at the right hand of God, the Lord Jesus must reign until all enemies are made His footstool. He is ruling in the midst of His enemies even now.
📖 “For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.” (1 Corinthians 15:25, KJV).
He reigns not just as King, but as our eternal High Priest, the Melchizedek who offered one perfect sacrifice for all time. He is now in a posture of expectation, of active authority. His name has been given to Him by God as a name above every other name.
📖 “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:9-11, KJV).
This is our reality. Just as death reigned because of the disobedience of one man, so we who receive the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness are called to reign in life through Jesus Christ! Do not be swayed by the fear of death, for it has no authority over you. Its power was destroyed by the cross and its fear is the only weapon it has left.
We have been given a divine mandate to reign. We are not to be controlled by the voices of this world, nor by their declarations. We are to walk in the knowledge of the Word, for the one who lives in us is greater than he who is in the world. Our hope is not in the hands of man, but in the finished work of our Lord Jesus Christ, our King-Priest, who must reign through us until every enemy is under His feet.
A Final Word 🕊️ Beloved Saint, may your heart be established in this profound truth. Your expectation is not a fantasy; it is a spiritual legality. You are a partaker of the divine reign. Continue to walk in the light of this glorious reality, for your life of glory is ever increasing.
